Andy Barlow, AAP

Executive Vice President, Macha/PAR

Andy serves as the Executive Vice President at Macha, Everything Payments, Everywhere. In this role, he is responsible for retail payments compliance and emerging payment systems. Andy has been at Macha for 18 years working with financial institutions and corporations to find solutions for their payment compliance challenges.

 

Andy’s prior experience includes correspondent banking at community banks. He speaks frequently on payment system risk and compliance topics. He served six years on Nacha’s Rules and Operations Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Jason Carone is a Senior Vice President at The Clearing House, responsible for product management of the Electronic Payments Network, the nation’s private-sector ACH Operator. In this capacity, he is responsible for implementing initiatives to drive growth for EPN and developing new product and service offerings. Mr. Carone also works closely with industry groups, senior bank management, regulators and other influencers to enhance the safety, soundness, and capabilities of the ACH Network.

 

Mr. Carone has more than 30 years' experience in Banking, Product Management, Operations, Consulting and Digital Banking, for various firms, including Silicon Valley Bank, Zions Bancorp, P&H Solutions, and US Bank. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Utah and holds the Accredited ACH Professional, Accredited Payments Risk Professional, and Certified Treasury Manager certifications, and participates in a wide variety of industry forums.

Jennifer Aguilar

Senior Associate, Alston & Bird LLP

Jennifer Aguilar is a senior associate in Alston & Bird’s Financial Services & Products Group. She counsels financial services clients on regulatory and transactional matters, with a focus on payments laws and network rules.

 

Jennifer advises clients on matters relating to the Nacha Operating Rules and Guidelines, card network rules, the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA), Truth in Savings Act (TISA), Expedited Funds Availability Act (EFA Act) and Truth in Lending Act (TILA),and a variety of state laws.

 

Before joining Alston & Bird, Jennifer was an associate at a law firm in a leading consumer financial services group, where she advised clients on requirements relating to consumer protection and disclosures, deposit products, payment cards, credit cards, checks, and installment lending. She also served as counsel at the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU), where she provided comprehensive compliance assistance on the federal consumer financial services regulations to the nation's credit unions.

Joni Hopkins, AAP

Vice President, Federal Reserve Financial Services

Joni Hopkins is a Vice President for the Federal Reserve’s Product and Relationship Management Group  based out of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Hopkins’ responsibilities include engaging and collaborating with community financial institutions throughout the United States to help define and prioritize system improvements that advance payment speed, efficiency, and security.   

Hopkins has been with the Federal Reserve System for over 25 years. Her background is rooted in advising community financial institutions across the United States related to payments.

 

In addition to her experience at the Federal Reserve, Hopkins has worked for two commercial financial institutions and a Payments Association. She was awarded the EPCOR Marquis Award for outstanding leadership, innovation and excellence in the development, implementation or advancement of electronic payments and risk mitigation solutions and is known as a champion for electronic banking services.

Kevin Miyamoto

Kevin Miyamoto is Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Identifee, responsible for all operational and administrative procedures. Kevin Olsen, AAP, APRP, CHPC, NCP

The Payments Professor

Kevin Olsen is a renowned expert and educator in the field of payments. With over two decades of experience, he is known as the "Payments Professor" for his ability to simplify complex concepts and make them accessible to anyone.

As a speaker, Kevin has a unique talent for engaging his audience with his passion for the subject matter. He has been invited to speak at industry conferences, academic institutions, and corporate events around the world.

Mary Gilmeister, AAP, NCP

President & CEO, Macha/PAR

Currently Mary is the President of Macha, and an Accredited ACH Professional and a National Check Professional (NCP). Mary has been President of WACHA/Macha for 30 years. Mary is also President of Payment Advisory Resource (PAR) a subsidiary of Macha. Mary has served on the Nacha, Marketing Committee, the Nacha Board of Directors and chaired a Nation Wide Direct Deposit Campaign in 1998 and participated on the Federal Debit Collection Improvement Act of 1996.

 

In addition, Mary has chaired many national rule making committees for Nacha and has served on many panels. Mary has participated in developing a program with the State Bar Association of WI and participated on a program for the state to change legislation on Financial Elder Abuse. She is actively working with the CFPB in establishing networks and speaking on Financial Elder Abuse.

 

Mary speaks nationally at the Nacha conference, and other conferences nationwide.

Nanci McKenzie is an experienced speaker and a recognized expert in the field of payment technology. She currently is an independent consultant. With over 38 years of experience in the payment technology industry, Nanci has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in payment processing, fraud prevention, and risk management. 

 

Prior to consulting opportunities, Nanci was with Affirmative Technologies. Nanci held senior leadership positions at financial institutions and payment technology companies, where she oversaw product development, strategic planning, and deposit operations. Her experience has provided her with a deep understanding of the payment technology landscape and the challenges that financial institutions face in this rapidly evolving industry. 

 

Nanci holds a B.S. in Business and Information Management from Seminole State College and a Juris Master's degree in Financial Regulation & Compliance from Florida State University College of Law. She is currently working toward her Master of Legal Studies from Thomas R. Kline College of Law at Drexel University in two concentrations, Financial Regulatory Compliance and Cybersecurity and Data Privacy. Norman Robinson

Retired, ePayResources

Norman is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS in Business Management and a minor in accounting. He served in the Army Reserve 1972-1979. He worked for the Richmond Federal Reserve 1973-1979, in a management training program with work in Check Collection, Staff Training, Float Analysis, and Internal Audit. He joined the Virginia ACH Association in 1979 as Executive Director, concurrently serving as Vice President of the Virginia Bankers Association. Served as President of the Commonwealth Assoc of Financial Professions. Certifications: Bank Management Certification, AAP, CTP.  Merged in WV, NC & FL changing the name to EastPay.  After 38 years leading the association as President & CEO of EastPay (now ePayResources) he retired in 2016 as President Emeritus.

 

Norman lives in Richmond, VA and is married to Joan (49 years) with four children and nine grandchildren.  In retirement, Norman earned a certification as a Master Gardener and always has his hands in the dirt.

Pamela Rodriguez, AAP, CIA, CISA

Pam has a “Passion for Payments and People” and has over 30 years of experience conducting audits, risk assessments and speaking sessions for financial institutions and third-parties engaged in the ACH Network.  She has served on Nacha’s Payments Institute Board of Regents and APRP Oversight Panel.  She currently serves on Nacha’s Risk Management Advisory Group. 

 

Pam is President & CEO of Southern Financial Exchange (SFE).  Prior to joining SFE, Pam was President & CEO of ePayAdvisors and former EastPay Advisory Services and Executive Director of the Alabama ACH Association. 

 

Pam is a lover of music, enjoys gardening and the outdoors and spending time with her family.  In her spare time, she volunteers as a Magic Maker for Magic Moments, whose purpose is to provide happiness to children throughout the state of Alabama who have been diagnosed with chronic life-threatening illnesses.

Paul Carrubba

Paul is Of Counsel in the law firm of Adams and Reese LLP.  His primary focus is on Banking Law and legal issues dealing with payment system laws and regulations and bank operations issues.  He is a frequent speaker at industry trade organization events, vendor user conferences and Webinars on banking and banking law issues.  He serves as litigation consultant and expert witness in matters dealing with banking procedures and has over 49 years of experience in the financial services industry.  Before starting the practice of law, Paul was Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Carreker Corp., Dallas, Texas.  In this position, he had responsibility for the management of the P&L for the software business units.  Prior to joining Carreker, Paul started a consulting firm and provided bank operations consultation to banks in the U.S., litigation support and expert testimony, and legal services to financial institutions.   

 

Paul started his banking career at Deposit Guaranty National Bank in Jackson, MS where he worked for over twenty years.  At the time of his departure, he was Senior Vice President and Manager of Operations, served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Southern Financial Exchange, was a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA), a member of the Bank Administration Institute’s Council for Educational Services and the Operations and Technology Commission and Chairman of the Operations and Automation Committee of the Mississippi Bankers Association.  He is the author of six books including: Revised UCC Article 3 and 4, A Banker’s Guide to Checks,  Principles of Banking, and Remote Deposit Capture Practical Considerations

Paul Tomasofsky

Paul Tomasofsky is Senior Vice President, Merchant Payments General Manager at North American Banking Company involved with managing payments products. Paul is a seasoned payment systems executive with over forty years’ experience in retail financial services including bill payment, electronic invoice presentment, credit card acquiring, debit card issuing and acquiring, instant payments, ATM management, ACH, eCommerce payments, EMV and check truncation to name a few.  Paul currently serves on the Nacha Risk Management Advisory Group. 
 
Prior to joining North American Banking Company, Paul was a partner with the payments consulting firm, McGovern Smith Advisors from 2014 to 2021. McGovern Smith Advisors is a leading payments industry advisory firm whose goal is to combine unsurpassed industry knowledge and experience with deep understanding of the payments industry in order to assist clients in solving their most difficult and challenging business and government relations issues. 
 
Paul was the founding president of the Secure Remote Payment Council from 2009 to 2021. He was responsible for helping the organization fulfill its mission of supporting the growth, development and market adoption of debit based internet eCommerce and mobile channel payment methods that meet or exceed the security standards for pinned based card present payments. 
 
Paul was the president of Two Sparrows Consulting from 2003 to 2021. Two Sparrows Consulting advised numerous industry leading firms including First Data, Nacha, PULSE, SHAZAM, UNIONPAY, MoneyGram, HSBC, Fifth Third Bank, The Port Authority of New York/New Jersey, BITS, NBPCA, Q/S1 Data Systems, Bancorp Bank, The Clearing House, NYCE, VISA and MasterCard. It specialized in strategic planning, business development, management consulting, training, competitive analysis, and product development. 
 
Paul served as the Executive Director of the Debit Network Alliance from 2013 to 2021. Debit Network Alliance LLC (DNA) was owned by 10 U.S. Debit Networks, founded in December 2013. The goal of this collaborative effort was to provide interoperable adoption of chip technology for debit payments, while supporting security, innovation, and optimal technology choice.

Richard Oliver

Retired, Federal Reserve Financial Services

Richard Oliver, payments system and strategic planning consultant, retired in 2011 as an Executive Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, where he spent 38 years overseeing technology and payments system services, including check, ACH, and wire transfer. From 1998 to 2010, he was the Federal Reserve System’s Retail Payments Product Manager with profit and loss responsibilities for the Fed’s $750 million check and ACH businesses. During 2010-2011, Oliver served as head of the Retail Payments Risk Forum, where he co-led a mobile payments industry effort to explore the evolution of mobile payments in the United States. Over the past several years he has delivered many industry speeches, taught at industry schools, and facilitated nearly a dozen strategic planning initiatives for payments organizations, banks, and universities. In 2010, he received the prestigious George Mitchell Payments System Excellence Award from the National Automated Clearinghouse Association. He and his colleague George Warfel have published a book on payments, The Story of Payments.

Scott Jones

Partner in Charge, Adams & Reese LLP

Scott Jones is a partner on the Financial Services Team at Adams and Reese LLP and is licensed in DC, TN and MS. He works with financial institutions throughout the United States on payment systems, payments fraud, and bank operations, including treasury management services, wire transfers, ACH transactions, online banking, mobile banking, instant payment services (RTP and FedNow), and emerging payment systems and methods. Scott assists financial institutions with agreements for each of the following products and services and he also works directly with financial institutions and companies in responding to potential losses arising from payments fraud.  He began his practice as a litigator and has approximately 20 years of experience advising clients on risk-minimization and best practices for avoiding litigation. Scott regularly speaks at payments-related conferences across the United States.

Todd Koehn

Todd Koehn, VP Faster Payment Solutions at Bankers’ Bank, has more than 18 years of payments and financial industry experience, with past roles at payments providers and core processors, he has presented to over 250+ Community Banks on RTP/FedNow. Todd understands the technology needs of community banks to help them serve a diverse customer base while at the same time, making their processes more efficient and how to save money or make money with these new payment rails. Todd helps community banks better understand Real Time Payments/FedNow, how RTP/FedNow can help retain, attract and grow critical banking relationships and the benefits of adopting Bankers’ Bank’s Aite-Novarica awarding Funding Agent Solution with liquidity management to facilitate settlement.
